CLASSIC BEAUTY IS SEASONLESS

I ran across this picture recently and couldn't help thinking that this was a fabulous look for this or any season. Great fashion and grooming are always in. A LBD and simple jewelry is all this gorgeous FORD model Christina B. needs.  I used Secsi (available at Beauty in 6 shades) mineral makeup for her foundation, lined her inner eyelid with a white pencil for that doe-eyed look, and swept just a whisper of sheer pink blush on her flawless face.  Defined but not overdone eyelashes complement the stronger brow, and the peony colored lipstick gives just the right pop of color to this monochromatic palette.   I side parted her fine hair and brushed it up into a high ponytail at the crown of her head.  I then back combed the ponytail and gave it a mist of Does It All hairspray by Bumble and Bumble.  I swirled the rough ponytail around until it had a bun like look.  Next, I simply pinned all the way around the perimeter of the bun and gave it another shot of spray.  Voila!  Here is our version of a modern day Audrey Hepburn from "Breakfast at Tiffany's".  This is a classic look and will never go out of style.  This was photographed by my dear friend John Grant, at his studio in the 3rd Ward.  In addition,  Mr. Grant did the fashion styling.

Before and After at Beauty......

Whenever I see a make over on a reality TV show, I'm always struck by how extreme they are.  The producers I'm sure need them to be as dramatic as possible so that the viewers stay tuned.  In the real world of salons and beauty however, bringing out the best in the client in smaller ways is usually what is in order.  Not to say we don't do major remodeling on some clients at their behest, but the art of subtlety is something that Beauty hairdressers have always strived for with their valued customers.  Finding out what works best for their texture, growth pattern, and daily routine, is what actually brings about striking change.  For example, take a look at these before and afters that were done during a Bumble and Bumble haircutting class at Beauty recently.  The models both look different, but in a carefully orchestrated way.  Sam, our trainer from Chicago, showed staff members that creating movement, and flattering the clients face and bone structure are what a great haircut is about, wouldn't you agree? Shown here are the long layer razor cut, and the razor bob, perfected by the Bumble and Bumble technique.  The fabulous photo's are by Mr. Rory Kurtz.

Bridal Beauty for 2011 featured in Veil Magazine

Trends come and go, but Beauty on your wedding day is eternal!!  Veil magazine recently gave us the opportunity to style for their fabulous bridal magazine.  In these two photos, hair and make up professionals from Beauty show two different hair looks that are totally unique.  We've used hair accessories by local Milwaukee designer Jaxie, and the images were done by KB Image.

The model here has that fresh dewy quality that every bride would love to have on her wedding day.  With the headband look I think it's important to stay in the ethereal range of peaches, pinks, and neutral on the eyes.  This is a delicate way to play out your big day.  The slight center part and lightly curled hair also add to that almost renaissance feeling.

In the second picture, the same model has been styled a little more fashion forward.  The eye make up is a bit deeper and gray was used to elongate and give here a more dramatic eye.  The blush is deepened as well.  The hair here is side swept and a feather hair clip was used in place of something more traditional.  Feathers are very popular this year, and rightly so.  They add a fluttery, yet classy quality when paired with the right hairstyle.

Yet more ideas for you to think about when considering your hair and make up needs for your big day.  The talented hairstylists and makeup artists at Beauty can help you realize your glamour potential, while still being true to yourself.  Schedule a practice make up or style with one of our professionals and I guarantee you'll be the shining star at your soiree!
